Being one of the largest airports in Spain, it’s no wonder that Alicante Airport should have a rich history as well. It was built in the El Altet area and opened on 4th May 1967.

The Convair Metropolitan was the first commercial flight to land in the airport thus marking the beginning of the airport’s popularity. Within a very short time span Alicante Airport managed to hit the over a million traffic passengers a year mark.
